Parliamentary Debate Track

We’re excited to offer a new addition to our camp: Parliamentary Debate, also known as parli.  In addition to providing numerous benefits to policy debaters, parli competition is offered at many Stoa Qualifying Tournaments and is being considered as a potential NITOC event for the 2011-2012 season.

Parliamentary Debate improves debaters’ knowledge of current events, refutation, and “impromptu negative” capabilities.  Parli offers a fun, interactive environment in which students debate a new topic each round with 20 minutes of preparation time before the round and no prep time during the round.  Parli provides an ideal format to teach theory, structure, and argumentation concepts that are very applicable to policy debate.

Our Parli Instructors include Daniel Beasley, President of the University of Washington Parli Team, and Sam Pizelo, Captain of the Bellevue College Parli Team.

One year of prior debate experience is required for participation in the track.
